A US gallon is 3.785 L while a UK gallon is 4.546 L — an important distinction when buying fuel or following a recipe from another country.

1 US cup equals 240 mL (often rounded to 250 mL). 1 US tablespoon equals 14.79 mL. 1 imperial pint is 568 mL while 1 US pint is 473 mL. 1 barrel of oil equals 159 liters or 42 US gallons.
The two countries standardized differently. 1 US fluid ounce equals 29.5735 mL while 1 imperial fluid ounce equals 28.4131 mL. The difference is small but can matter in pharmaceuticals.
In US customary units 1 teaspoon equals about 4.93 mL (commonly rounded to 5 mL in cooking). In the metric system used in many countries the teaspoon is defined as exactly 5 mL.
